Summary: Provide funding to support 10 students enrollment in the Level Up Academy's 10-week course

Transforming the lives of youth by providing the support, stability, and skills they need to flourish in the community and in their families is the mission of New Pathways for Youth.

For the past 34 years, New Pathways for Youth has strategically invested in underserved youth experiencing adversity residing in low-income, high-risk Phoenix AZ neighborhoods by enrolling students in Level Up Academy.

Level Up Academy is a 10-week course that is an introduction to the skills/mindsets students need to thrive in high school and beyond. They currently partner with two Phoenix area high schools with plans to expand to four Title 1 schools. Offered as an elective high school course - open to all students in grades 9-12 attending partner schools- Level Up Academy will be delivered twice a week as part of students' regular school schedule and facilitated by an experienced instructor who will provide guidance and support to students.

Level Up Academy helps youth shift mindsets and behaviors, develop healthy coping strategies, and overcome personal struggles. The overall project impact would be for Level Up Academy to build youths' sense of belonging, expose youth to a network of peer support and nurturing adults, and foster self-accountability - all key components to increasing positive mental health outcomes.

Funding from the Rotary Club of Scottsdale North and District Grant funds will help pay for 10 students' enrollment in Level Up Academy at a cost of $500 per student.

Rotarians of Rotary Club of Scottsdale North will participate in this project by preparing the grant with the recipient and shepherding the grant through the grant process. RCSN Rotarians will follow up with Level Up Academy to get feedback from students who have completed the 10-week course.

Publicity will involve posting information and pictures on the RCSN various social media channels regarding funding for Level Up Academy and this District Grant.

Congratulations! This project has been approved for full funding. We are not certain when the money will hit your account, but our best guess is a month or so. The district has approved the project now Rotary International will review and approve. We’ll send you an update when we have one. Please also remember that you may not spend money prior to TRF approval and reimburse yourself from grant funds. If there have been changes in your bank account (information for electronic transfer), please get that to Lucinda General (District Treasurer) as soon as possible. treasurer@rotary5495.org. Your report is due April 30, 2025, and receipts are required to complete the report (not invoices, cancelled checks, UPS shipping labels, or any other documents). Thank you for creating hope in the world.

The district grant process is progressing but is delayed somewhat due to the second round of grant submissions. We will notify you as soon as the grant funds are available. Reminder: No money should be spent until the funds are sent to the clubs. No receipts for spending prior to that can be accepted.
