Project Description

Country: Kenya

Location: Marsabit

Total Budget: $800

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

Activity Type: Education: Literacy

Summary: Adult and young students will benefit from the school supplies funded through this project.

This grant funds will purchase and transport school supplies to support literacy education in Marsabit county, Kenya. We will partner with Community Change Advocates, Marsabit District Church Council that oversees several schools and literacy centers in the county in partnership with TIRRIM TRUST, Kenya.

Marsabit, northern Kenya, is the second largest county. The majority of the land is a desert and habited by Nomadic Pastoralists who relocate frequently in search of pastures. The nomadic lifestyle makes it difficult for children to attend school, thus translating to a large number of adults who do not know how to read and write.
