The East Idaho Rotary Club will partner with elementary schools in Bonneville School District 93, Ririe School District, and Swan Valley School District to purchase a book for every 3rd grade student. Our purpose is to help children develop a love of reading because of their ownership and connection with their own personal book. Many students in our schools never have the opportunity to own their own books and also lack access to books over the summer. The average cost for each book will be $3.65. Once school starts in September, the Club will contact teachers at each school to select a book title for the students in their classroom. Once we have received the orders, the Club will meet together to organize the distribution for each school, add a sticker into each book noting the donation from the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International, and then individual club members will personally distribute the books to each classroom.
At an anticipated cost of $4.00 per book for 1,200 students, we anticipate the total cost for the project ot be $4,800.
