Summary: 10 at-risk students from Phoenix, AZ area high schools will attend a 10 week course called Level Up Academy.

Transforming the lives of youth by providing the support, stability, and skills they need to flourish in the community and in their families is the mission of New Pathways for Youth.

New Pathways for Youth have successfully served at-risk Phoenix youth ages 13-21 through their comprehensive mentoring program for over 35 years.

Level Up Academy is a 10-week course offered twice per week as an elective as part of a student's regular day in grades 9-12. It strives to change perspectives on academic and personal/professional development. Coursework focuses on setting goals, college and career readiness and positive life outcomes. Level Up Academy is facilitated by an experienced instructor who will provide guidance and support the students.

Level Up Academy will help students to (1) develop a growth mindset; (2)Think critically by analyzing information from multiple sources and form their own conclusions; (3)Solve problems creatively by producing innovative solutions; (4)Take ownership of their learning and life outcomes; and (5)Explore topics such as goal setting, time an stress management.

Past outcomes from Level Up Academy show that over 90% of enrolled students will graduate high school, over 90% will develop a positive adult relationship and 80% will pursue post-secondary opportunities.

Funding from the Rotary Club of Scottsdale North and District Grant funds will help pay for 10 students' enrollment in Level Up Academy at a cost of $500 per student.

Rotarians of Rotary Club of Scottsdale North will participate in this project by preparing the grant with the recipient and shepherding the grant through the grant process. RCSN Rotarians will follow up with Level Up Academy to get feedback from students who have completed the 10-week course.

Publicity will involve posting information and pictures on the RCSN various social media channels regarding funding for Level Up Academy and this District Grant.
