Purse Impressions is a charity organization that celebrates accomplishments and milestones for individuals recovering from alcohol and drug treatment programs. They annually make holiday donations to a minimum of 850 women, men and children who will spend Christmas (Hanukkah) in rehab or sober living treatment facilities. This is the only holiday gift many of them receive.
Funds from the grant will be used to buy backpacks, purses and diaper bags filled with hygiene items for men and women, journals, socks, diapers & toys for the children. During the holidays, these gifts provide more than just essential items-they bring hope, dignity and a reminder that people care. They serve as a fresh start, offering a sense of comfort and belonging to the community during a time that can feel isolating.
Donations are made to 18 various rehab campuses in the Phoenix Metro area and Maricopa County, Arizona.
The success of this annual project is measured in several ways: (1) Community engagement: the project has drawn attention from local newspapers and TV stations; (2) Longevity & Growth: as the initiative enters its 5th year, sustained community support increases each year; (3) Partnerships and Outreaches: collaboration with shelters and organizations that distribute donations ensures the right people receive them strengthening community ties and broadening the impact.
Rotarians of Rotary Club of Scottsdale North will participate in this project by preparing the grant with the recipient and shepherding the grant through the grant process. RCSN Rotarians will provide hands-on assistance with assemblage of the holiday purses, backpacks and diaper bags.
Publicity will involve posting of information and pictures on the RCSN various social media channels regarding this District Grant and placement of a card in the holiday purses, backpacks and diaper bags indicating the contents were furnished by Rotary Club of Scottsdale North and include the Rotary Wheel.
