The grant funding would be used to purchase 5 fully loaded iPads for our assistive technology lending library.
Our lending library was created to give nonverbal and minimally verbal children on the autism spectrum the opportunity to explore and evaluate communication tools.
The equipment is loaned to families in our free self-paced online AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) program, reAACt.
Families use our lending library to either assess the effectiveness of AAC devices, or to serve as a temporary solution while waiting for a child's existing device to be repaired or replaced.
The iPads will come preloaded with 3 of the top AAC programs - Proloquo2go, TouchChat and LAMP Words for Life.
