Summary: This initiative equips underserved youth ages 12–19 for green economy careers through hands-on training, mentorship, and support services, building a skilled, sustainable workforce and strengthening community resilience.

Generation Green: 21st Century Leaders for a Just Green Economy is a green workforce readiness and youth empowerment initiative designed to prepare youth ages 12-19 from underserved communities, for careers in the green economy. It provides hands-on training in green industries like clean energy and environmental conservation through workshops and mentorship with local businesses. The program includes hiring qualified instructors, developing a comprehensive curriculum, providing technology and tools, and supporting transportation and meals to ensure accessibility. Outreach efforts engage historically marginalized youth, offering them meaningful real-world experience, leadership development, and exposure to sustainable career pathways. This initiative strengthens the local economy by building a skilled, future-ready workforce that supports sustainable business growth and community resilience.

Needs Identified:

Underserved youth lack access to training, mentorship, and real-world experience needed for green economy jobs - a highly competitive and advantageous professional sector. Barriers like transportation, technology, and outreach limit participation, while local businesses need a skilled workforce in sustainable industries.

How the Project Meets These Needs:

The project provides exposure to green skills training and mentorship with local partners. It offers technology, transportation, and meals to ensure access, while outreach engages marginalized youth. This builds a skilled, diverse workforce ready to support economic growth and community resilience.
