Project Description

Country: Kenya

Location: Machakos

Total Budget: $500

Area of Focus: Peacebuilding and conflict prevention

Activity Type: Education: Volunteer Services

Summary: School age children and residents will receive free human-Wildlife conflict education to reduce injury and/or death.

This is a collaboration grant between RC El Cajon Sunset and RC Athi-Kapiti plains (Kenya, District 9212).

In recent past, school children have been attacked by hyenas while going to or returning from school, in north of Machakos town, Kenya. Unfortunately, injuries and loss of life have occurred. In mitigation, this grant funds will be used to facilitate human-wildlife conflict education in lower grade schools and set up capture traps for animal relocation back to game reserves. The school and community education will start at Kyasila primary school in Mua hills and then other location RC Athi-Kapiti plains deems urgent.
