Project Description Country: USA Location: El Centro, CA Total Budget: $2,300 Area of Focus: None Activity Type: RI Youth Programs (Youth Exchange, RYLA, Rotaract, Interact) Summary: Increasing Capacity for RI Youth Programs in El Centro, CA El Centro Rotary Club will support Rotary International Youth Programs during the 2025-26 Rotary Year to benefit youth in El Centro including: 1. Central High School Interact Club, $1000: The CUHS Interact Club regularly participates in community events and volunteers their service at area organizations, including the El Centro Christmas Parade, the Imperial Valley Humane Society, Little Libraries and the Pioneers' Museum. Project funding will cover costs associated with 2025-2026 projects and t-shirts. 2. RYLA, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Program, $1000: We are excited to send our first cohort of 2 high school juniors to the 2026 District 5340 RYLA. 3. 4-Way Test, $300: We are excited to host our first 4-Way Test Speech Contest in 2026. Club members support RI Youth Projects by providing guidance and project support for our CUHS Interact Club, including sending 2 club members to RYLA in 2026, and connecting local youth to opportunities for personal growth, including hosting a 4-Way Test Speech Contest in 2026. Our club has been rebuilding our CUHS Interact Club since 2023, actively connecting the club youth with community service opportunities at local events and with local nonprofit organizations. The next step in the development of this club includes sending 2 of our club members to RYLA. We also want to introduce the 4-Way Test Speech Contest in 2026 to grow our youth outreach and provide El Centro students an opportunity to develop and showcase their public speaking skills.
