Each year Project Mercy, a non-profit San Diego agency invites organizations to build houses for the destitute families in the colonias east of Tijuana, Mexico.
The Rotary Club of Chula Vista Eastlake has proudly participated in this endeavor in previous years, this year we will partner with the Chula Vista Eastlake Noon club who has 16 consecutive years now on completing the project. We reiterate our commitment and enthusiasm to do it again. For some Rotarians and Rotaracts this is the first time to go to Mexico and actually see, experience and interact with families so close to our border but living in such poor conditions. Recognizing the extreme need to alleviate the health hazards incurred by poor makeshift housing inspired us to be able to help in even a small way.
There is a job for everyone who volunteers to help build and paint the house. Starting with the prepared concrete slab and delivered building materials to locking the front door.
Project is set for April 11, 2026.
