Identified Needs:
The Musahar community of Nepal has historically faced systemic discrimination, social exclusion, and economic marginalization. As one of the most underprivileged and overlooked groups in the country, many Musahar families lack access to sustainable income-generating opportunities, education, and basic resources. Our needs assessment has revealed a critical gap in livelihood support, particularly for women and landless families, who struggle to break the cycle of poverty.
How the Project Will Meet Those Needs:
This project aims to provide goats to 100 Musahar families as a means of sustainable economic development. Goats are a practical asset in rural Nepal - they are low-maintenance, reproduce quickly, and provide milk, meat, and manure. The milk can be consumed or sold for income, while offspring can be raised or sold, creating a self-sustaining model of financial independence.
In addition, families will receive basic animal husbandry training and regular veterinary support to ensure proper care and productivity. The project is designed not only to increase income but also to restore dignity, visibility, and empowerment to a community that has long been made to feel invisible and unheard.
